Every flock has one…
The one who wanders beyond the fence…
The one with a story no one else can tell…
And sometimes, that story changes everything.
Welcome to the Woolshed
Black Sheep Library

Today is full of yesterdays and tomorrows
We believe in the power of the unique voice, the untold story, and the uncharted journey.
We specialize in narratives of those who stand out — the rebels, the dreamers, the ones who dare to be different. Fictional journeys that inspire and connect with readers who seek something beyond the every day.

J Steven Osborne
Author
Steve is a successful tech entrepreneur, sales trainer, commercial real estate investor, and professional speaker in a career that has spanned over 30 years. His combination of wit, substance, irreverent humor, and exceptional story-telling skills have made him an audience favorite. He graduated with degrees from Miami University and Embry-Riddle University. Steve and his wife Becky are the parents of two grown daughters. He is one of the few people who has produced content which has won an Emmy, and another which was banned on six continents.
Emma Stevens
Author
Emma Stevens, who is also known as Linda Pevac, is the author of two earlier memoirs: The Gathering Place: An Adoptee’s Story and A Fire Is Coming. Her adoption journey began when she was relinquished as an infant and adopted at three months old. Only in hindsight does she understand how being an adoptee has shaped and formed her entire life. In her first memoir, The Gathering Place, Emma describes a magical space she has created for healing, comfort, and restoration for the younger parts of herself that never felt safe, seen, heard, or understood. A Fire Is Coming is Emma’s cautionary tale. She emphasizes the importance of selecting a therapist thoughtfully and alerts readers to the psychological nightmare that can result from an unethical therapist, doctor, or counselor. Emma’s third memoir, Choosing to Breathe, brings together all three themes. It takes readers back to The Gathering Place, where they discover what it means to integrate their identities as Emma releases multiple layers of trauma. After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma, she pursued master’s-level coursework in psychology at Pepperdine University in Orange County, California. In March 2024, Emma won an Independent Author Award for her second book, A Fire Is Coming, at Tucson’s 2024 Festival of Books. She was also a finalist in the 18th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards for the same book. Emma loves traveling and spending time with her two adult children and her two lively, affectionate Bengal cats.
Devan B. Deyerin
Author
From third through eighth grade, Devan was homeschooled. His first writing assignment was to mimic a book from the Beast Quest series, his favorite at the time. Devan loved this assignment and has been an avid writer ever since. Over the pandemic Devan and his mom Kara started writing together to explore Devan's story idea, and what started as a friendly challenge became much more. They each wrote a chapter, combined them, and loved the outcome. When not writing together, Devan loves painting Warhammer figurines, and staring at critters under a microscope.

Kara Rubinstein Deyerin
Author
Kara is a mother, advocate, and storyteller. Her life's journey is filled with family twists from the murder of her grandparents to a DNA surprise at age 43. She has appeared on many podcasts, in multiple television interviews and articles, and is a frequent speaker on the complex intersection of genetic information, identity, and family dynamics and secrets.

Becky Brower Osborne
Author
At 18 months old, Becky contracted spinal meningitis which left her severely hearing impaired. Despite that challenge, she graduated from Miami University and worked several years as a tech analyst for GE and later as a small business executive. While raising two daughters she started a major community service effort in her city. In 2015 she received a Cochlear Implant to restore her hearing and now advocates for and supports the CI community. Married to Steve Osborne since 1993, she currently divides her time between writing, genealogy research, and being present for her family and friends.
